The Fundraising Chair leads the development and implementation of fundraising strategies to support the mission of the Diaspora Collective. This role includes organizing campaigns and events, cultivating donor relationships, identifying funding opportunities, and mobilizing community support. The chair works closely with the board and staff to ensure that fundraising efforts are ethical, mission-aligned, and sustainable.

Andrea Aponte is an immigrant from Peru, a multi-disciplinary artist, and a certified bicycle skills instructor with the League of American Bicyclists. She is the founder of CycleSafeLA, a Los Angeles-based business dedicated to making streets safer and more accessible through education and advocacy. Andrea also serves as the board secretary for The Radical Ranch, a farm sanctuary nonprofit. She proudly identifies as pansexual and is a member of the queer community. Her work—whether artistic, activist, or entrepreneurial—is grounded in a commitment to justice, visibility, and community care. As head of fundraising for The Diaspora Collective, Andrea brings her passion for resource-sharing and her deep belief in collective healing—especially the vital role of trauma-informed, culturally attuned therapy for queer and BIPOC survivors.
