The Vice President supports the President in providing leadership to the board and may step in to fulfill presidential duties when the President is unavailable. This role often includes helping to coordinate board activities, supporting strategic planning, and ensuring continuity of leadership. The Vice President may also oversee specific committees or initiatives and works closely with other board members to advance the mission and goals of the Diaspora Collective.

Vanessa Arteaga, LMFT, is a first-generation Latina, bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and dedicated advocate for BIPOC individuals and families mental health. With over 20 years of experience, she has built her career around serving and uplifting youth and families impacted by trauma, homelessness, human trafficking, domestic violence, CWS, and systemic barriers.
Vanessa currently serves as Director of Programs, where she leads culturally responsive, trauma-informed programs that support children, youth,and families, transitional-aged youth (TAY), LGBTQ+ individuals, and underserved communities across San Diego County. As someone who deeply values her lived experience and the resilience of those she serves, Vanessa is committed to creating safe, inclusive spaces where healing and growth are possible.
